Custom internal software and dashboards

Biggest build so far: SMART Pro

For when the spreadsheet holding everything together has become the thing you are afraid of breaking.

Thirty minutes, free, no deck

When this is worth doing

  • Something important runs on a spreadsheet, and one wrong paste breaks it.
  • Off-the-shelf software covers 70% of your process and fights you on the rest.
  • Nobody trusts the numbers because everyone maintains their own copy.

What you get

One system, one set of numbers, and an answer when somebody asks where a figure came from.

  • A database design that still makes sense in two years
  • Access by role, so people see what they should and nothing else
  • Approvals, a record of who changed what, and locks on the things that must not change later
  • Dashboards for whoever has to sign things off
  • Runs on your own infrastructure, with the source code handed over

Custom Software: questions

When is custom software worth it over an off-the-shelf tool?

When your process is the thing that makes you money and no product matches it, or when licence costs per seat have overtaken the cost of building once. If an existing tool covers it, we will tell you to buy the tool.

Who owns the code?

You do. It is deployed to your accounts and the repository is handed over. There is no dependency on us continuing to be involved.

What stack do you build on?

React or Next.js on the front, Postgres through Supabase for data and auth, and Tailwind for the interface. Boring, well-documented choices, so another developer can pick it up without an archaeology project.

Bring us the thing your team keeps doing by hand.
